Abstract |
In this paper I present main theses formulated by Kant concerning human history, compare Kant`s idea with other models and demonstrate its cardinal difficulties. Human history has, according to Kant, two dimensions. The first level is the progress in respect of the legality which is powered by an asocial sociality of man. The second level is the progress of the morality stimulated by human freedom and personal will. For Kant history is a teleological process. As its aim does not realize itself without the free agreement of man, Kant`s idea is an example of the practical model. I demonstrate also that the theory of Kant leads to an antinomy. This progress is historical but not moral, or it is moral but not historical.
