Abstract
Social epistemology – between classical epistemology and sociology of knowledge
The present study is devoted to the question of what is the range of investi-gations led by philosophers and non-philosophers under the sign of a “social epistemology”? My aim is to compare this venture to the widely understood sociology of knowledge in its classical and unclassical formulations. Is therefore the social epistemology the new field of knowledge or rather the new formula of old problems placed earlier on soil of classical epistemology? What is the point of intersection of this two: the sociology of knowledge and social epistemology? Does the social epistemology have its specificity, its originary subject matter which differ from the objects of sociology of knowledge? What, if at all, is the intellectual space of meeting, or place of intersection the sociology of knowledge with social epistemology? And what is the role of classical epistemology in this intersection?
