Teleology and History
In this paper the problem of historical teleology is reconstructed. Firstly, I distinguish two different kinds of this finality, first of all an external finality and internal finality. Secondly, I analyze three affirmative models accepting finality of history: the objective model (Augustine, Hegel), the subjective-objective model (I. Kant, J. Burckhardt) and the objective-subjective model (A. Cieszkowski). Lastly, I consider some negative answers on the example of the positions formulated by O. Spengler and L. Gumplowicz.
